Local Liberal Democrat parliamentary candidate, Richard Burt welcomed the award of Regional Flood Levy money for flood defences in Pershore, Uckinghall and Powick.
The decision of the Midlands Regional Flood Defence Committee to fund the schemes means residents in all three locations will have the security of flood defences when works are completed within the next two years.
However, it was heartache for flood effected residents in Kempsey, who's own flood defences bid was deferred for re-consideration next year.
A small grant of £10,000 was also made for Tenbury.
Mr Burt, who attended the decision making meeting with residents from Kempsey and Uckinghall said:
"I share the joy of residents in all three areas who will now be protected from further flooding. However, it was bitterly disappointing that Kempsey did not receive the support it deserves. I will work with residents there to help secure funding from other sources to help achieve a successful outcome next year.
"Prospects of funding for the £5million Tenbury scheme remain grim unless government can be persuaded to open the purse strings or look again at the criteria used to assess bids."
